Dannii Minogue has slammed reports that singer Rachel Hylton has dumped her as a mentor on X Factor. According to reports today, feisty Rachel ditched Dannii after a string of blazing rows about song choices and styling, which led to the 26-year-old singer being in the bottom two last Saturday.
Dannii has since spoken out to refute the claims: “Rachel and I have not fallen out and there has never been any discussions that she wishes to leave Team Minogue. I have, as always, spent lots of one on one time with Rachel this week and have even organised a personal shopping trip so she feels more confident about her look. Rachel is a raw talent. She may be the Robbie Williams of The X Factor, but I back her 100% and want her to be happy. As with all three of my amazing contestants, they are my main priority.”
Rachel has admitted she has chosen her own song and her own style for this week’s performance, but denied ‘sacking’ Dannii. “I don’t have anything against Dannii at all and she is still very much my mentor and I respect her opinions, all I want is a little more control over my performance and styling, which she is allowing me to have.”
Rachel ended up in the bottom two in disco week after performing Lost In Music; she also wasn’t happy with Dannii’s song choice in week one – Every Heartbeat by Robyn.

Rachael keep your opinions and attitude to yourself you will get voted off by the public due to the latter, the fact that you have a brilliant voice will not sway the public vote, they are so fickle. Austin should not have gone last week, it should have been Daniel…infact with a bit of luck Daniel will go this week.

I felt I should add in some comments regarding your post as you seem to be making some reference to some of the comments I made. I am in no way attacking your opinion.

I am afraid at some point she chose to take drugs and chose that life style for herself. No-one ever sets out to become a drug addict but starting the habit was of her own choosing. I know for a fact that if I was addicted to anything, and I am not(!), that if Social Services told me they were going to remove my children if I didn\’t stop with this addiction, then that would have been all I needed to hear to stop. As far as I am concerned she put the drugs before her children.
2. "Do you really think that she INTENDED to get pregnant at 13 years of age? Maybe she wasnt careful enough but even so I am sure that it was an accident."
Of course I don\’t think she intended to get pregnant at 13. She obviously knew there was a risk but at 13 she was not mature enough for a sexual relationship and everything that this brings. There are quite a lot of teen pregnancies and of course Rachel is by far and away not the only person to get caught in this predicament. But she went on to have is it 5 or 6 children all at a young age when she quite clearly wasn\’t coping with the babies she had already. Again this was of her choosing. I had my first child when I was quite young, but I didn\’t choose to go off and get wasted on drugs. I chose to try and improve my life and my Son\’s and worked extremely hard to get where I am today. It was really hard work but I achieved it of my own making. But through out this my children and my family were paramount, and still are. Nothing comes before them. I don\’t feel this is the same with Rachel and it is my opinion that she is on the X factor for the fame and money. You cannot say that this will improve her childrens lives. What time will they get with her? Who is going to look after them while she is jetting all around? They have had lots of instability in their lives already, I don\’t feel they need any more upset with not knowing where their Mum is from one day to the next.

I agree that she has lots of guts. I don\’t agree that she has had to stand up for herself at an early age. What has she stood up to? She didn\’t make the change when it mattered the most and chose her own life path. Yes she has had difficult times but why should this make her "prickly". I have read some amazingly positive comments on this forum from people who have had openly difficult times and even when faced with adverse comments do not turn "prickly" and start with an attitude. These people are the ones that I respect. The ones that have had a truly hard time which was not of their making and still manage to keep positive.
Anyway, she\’s not \’owed\’ a chance in life just because she\’s had it hard….why should she have any advantage over the others? If she wins (and personally I don\’t think she will cos there are better singers in the competition) it should be solely on her talent and not because of any sympathy vote for the \’hard start in life\’ she\’s had….
As I said, she should look to Leona Lewis – a world star now yet still as humble as she was in the beginning….

l cant say lve heard Rachel talking about her `hard life`, and how tough she`s had it, other than a mention at the first audition, so doesn`t seem to be looking for the sympathy vote, yet Daniel`s tragedy as been mentioned a lot, and every seems to love him, be it he`s a average cabaret singer. As for the public being fickle with Rachel, seems to me from the boards that she`s never been liked by anyone, and gets only criticism, just a grudging acceptance that she`s a decent voice. A lot of girls that have a rough upbringing like her, make the same mistakes, some with drug problems lose their kids, by choice or not, some keep them and can put their lives at risk, or totally screw them up, their kids often suffer physically and mentally, so its just possible that with that she made the best choice for them at the time.. Never say never till youve been in that persons shoes.
l personally think she`s a great voice, but had some poor songs for a soul voice, no matter what her talent she will have no chance of winning because of her unpopularity, plus you cant really judge people by their media image, often its not for real.

You are right, she is not owed a chance in life based on her hard times. She is on the X factor because of her talent and should be judged on this. Unfortunately for Rachel people also vote based on personality, which is why Daniel stayed last week despite being (in my opinion) the weakest performer. I feel Rachel will go this week because people will have read this story in the media and feel that she has become a little "too big for her boots". Danni has tried to support her but I don\’t think Rachel is an easy character to get along with. As you say Leona really had it all. Great talent, super personality, didn\’t think she was better than anyone else and is still the same to this day despite her success. Will Young (Pop idol winner although it is pretty much the same as x factor!) didn\’t always agree with what the judges wanted. However he did it respectfully and also listened to the advice and guidance offered to learn from it. You don\’t have to agree with the judges, but you do need to conduct yourself in a respectful manner and I don\’t think Rachel has done this.

Have seen quite a few clips with Rachel talking about her past and wanting to improve her children\’s life. As for the sympathy vote, she isn\’t going to get it with her past. Daniel lost his Wife after she gave birth to their baby. This is nowhere near the same situation Rachel got herself in to.

she didn\’t make the choice!!! Social Services removed her children because in some way or another she was neglecting/harming them. I am sure if Social Services had given her the option of keeping her children she wouldn\’t have "chosen" to have them removed anyway. And as for being in that persons shoes…..I have no desire to go there thank you very much! I control my own future and I am not stupid enough to get involved with drugs and put my children at risk. Yes, she made mistakes but her mistakes have cost her children dearly.

They were removed for their own safety i doubt in her drug induced haze she really had any choice in the matter, she could have chosen to take a long lasting contraception in that case, to prevent her having more and more children to be taken into care in the first place. At the end of the day, it\’s the public who vote, not the studio audience or the judges……the judges only get involved with the bottom two so come on you press guys….get real and concentrate on the real stuff – their voices.
Oh, and I\’m not a \’Rachel-hater\’ or a \’Laura-lover\’. I personally think that the final four will be/should be Alexandra, Diana, Laura and JLS….in no particular order of course!!
i always thought rachel had a really good voice, strong but different . she is like tina turner . the girl nedds a break , shes not young and preety like the other girls but she has got talent,i wish her all the best . shes is one fiesty lady.

I think Danni cares quite a lot about her acts. I think she tries her best to support and mentor them. She doesn\’t always get it right but neither did Rachel when she chose Dirty Diana. That\’s probably her weakest song to date. The problem with Rachel is not only her attitude, but also that her style/voice isn\’t versatile enough. She\’s great at what she does best but then try and get her to sing disco etc and she doesn\’t do well. X Factor has the differing styles every week and they just don\’t suit Rachel\’s voice. I feel it is more about this than the song choices and this is nothing either Danni or Rachel can do anything about. Some of the artists sing well and are suited to the different themes every week, sometimes surprisingly, but Rachel isn\’t one of them. I wish her well and certainly don\’t hate her, but she is not the most talented on the show, she does have an attitude and she has a difficult past that people will vote against her for. People base their opinion on the whole package and will vote for who they really like as well as who they feel has the best voice.
By the way, does anyone know what the theme is for tomorrow night?
On the ITV website for X Factor people have been commenting on Austin being voted off. A lot of people are saying that it was a fix and that there was a problem with the phone lines. Apparently there were issues where people rang the number for Austin but were put through to a different contestant. Others complained of not being connected and difficulty getting through even after trying for 20 mins. Not sure whether this is all strictly true or not but some very ill feeling about it all over there. They have started a petition to bring Austin back. Not sure how this is going to work, as surely they can\’t re-enter him into the show once he has left? I saw the front of the Mirror today and it has a story about Rachel when she was younger. Apparently when she was 18 she followed this woman home and tried to steal her purse. The woman would not let go and a scuffle broke out. Luckily the womans husband was home at the time. He says it absolutely terrified his Wife and that she wouldn\’t go out for weeks.
He chased Rachel and held her until the police arrived. She went to court and got 18 months probation and community service. However a little while later she was jailed for a similar offence. The man now says that he forgives Rachel and is pleased that she is trying to change her life. Sadly his Wife died a few years ago of cancer, but I wonder what she would make of Rachel being on X factor?

Wow, didn\’t see that one coming. I thought both Laura and Ruth sang well tonight and are really strong competitors. Like everyone has said, Laura will go on to do fantastic things and it is only the beginning of what will be a really strong career. It was hard to pick two acts tonight to be in the bottom two as the standard was so good. Daniel sang well and has improved a lot since last week. I really did think Rachel would have been in the bottom two, mainly because of all the negative press this week but also she did hit quite a few bum notes tonight. I felt the clip showing her losing her temper would have gone against her as well. But the public do the voting so who knows what will happen. Just like last week a really strong singer has gone. I wonder who would have gone if Louis had let it go to deadlock? And where did Simon go on the Xtra Factor…noticeably absent???
I don\’t get it.. sure the auditions are funny.. but thats about it.. there is plenty of decent music in the UK without Cowells "help". He just racks in the money, fair enough. It\’s just an excuse for product placement and it\’s a sad day people have to think they need to go on such shows to make an impact. I can name bands who do a amzing things, but they don\’t have the money chucked at them so you\’d not hear of them, but may know of their music. If they producted their own music great.. but it\’s left to people behind the scenes. the only winner in this is cowell, wake up and smell the coffee people.

It\’s very clear that there is a divide on this blog about Rachel, the people who defend her mostly APPEAR to be younger and see no wrong in having an attitude. They are the ones who can\’t spell unless they use text speak, and appear to have a similar attitude. The whole thing is about having respect for people, and if you don\’t show it, you don\’t get it. Then you get the \’World owes me a living\’ attitude, and the \’You should respect me if you want me to respect you garbage\’.
Some kids today are total morons, and not saying some adults too, but it\’s tough on the youngsters who have been brought up properly, have been taught to respect things and people and are a total joy to have around. They unfortunately are tarred with the same brush.
Rachel has an amazing voice in one particular genre, her voice is not versatile enough to change styles which is why she probably won\’t win in my opinion. I admire her for being able to give up her lifestyle choice, but the world doesn\’t owe her a living for it, there are many others in the same boat. It\’s not the only way she can earn money to bring up her family, as others do. They have jobs, and work hard.
Again, sorry for Daniels\’ loss, but that shouldn\’t be why he is kept in. I think Alexandra has a bit of an edge as she apparently has sung with Joss Stone on a song on her new album, hearsay, I don\’t know.
I do agree that Eoghans\’ hair is taking over his head, he does need a little attention. Don\’t think Laura should have got even if she did sing some bum notes, they all have their off days and most get away with it. Austin should have still been in, and I think Simon made a mistake at the start when he didn\’t choose that other tall dark handsome bloke whose name I think was Alan. Reckon he would have grown in confidence and was improving, better than Scott.
I cannot believe that Ruth and Laura were both in the bottom two. No way should they have been there. Rachel definately should have gone this week. She really is terrible in everyway. Her voice is nothing to shout about. Her choices might mean she is still in the competition but i dont think its for her performances, i think it is because of her situation. But she wouldnt be the first person to be looking after kids and want to provide a future for them. If she gets any where near the final the show must be rigged. I cant stand her attitude. I think Diana is amazing and I hope she goes far with or without the show.

I\’m losing faith in the X Factor. I don\’t understand the judges at all. They don\’t care about the contestants, all they care about is getting at each other. Each week Louis slates Daniel and doesn\’t think he can win, so why when given the chance to send him home does he save him? In my opinion, it was because he was up against Scott and Louis didn\’t want Simon to have all of his acts because Louis only had 1 act left, and the same the next week when he had the chance to said Divaesque Rachel home, he saves her and once again sends Simon\’s act home. I don\’t see how its fair that Loui always gets the deciding vote considering the fact he wouldn\’t know talent if it walked up and slapped him in the face. His pathetic retaliations when he loses an act drive me mad "At least I can remember their names Simon". What the hell? I admire people in the competition such as Alex and Diana who have got up and sung without a pathetic sob story. Really thought this year was going to be an interesting final, but at this rate I won\’t even be watching it!

Something needs to be changed because, millions of people vote off the person they think was not up to the bass, the producers need to stop asking the judges to vote in the bottom show down its so nasty and frankly boring we all know that they will keep there own . we all spend millions on calls to the show let the nation decide.

It must be awful to get up everyday and read negative reports about yourself and still go in front of millions of people and sing. She can sing, obviously otherwise she wouldn\’t have got this far. As for the sympathy stories, is she the one going on about her past life or is it the media bringing it up time and time again? I would think she would want to put anything bad she has done in the past, kept in the past and look forward to the future. X factor mania I apologise. I\’m a cleaning freak so when programmes are on I\’m in and out and I just hear the singing and when it\’s time for chat I\’m off again. If I\’m wrong I do apologise, though I still think we should give her a break, after all does she know any better and is probably saying these things out of desperation. Also who knows what the prodcers are maing her say on the programme. If I remember rightly I have heard previous X factor contestants complaining that they are told to be arrogant etc..
I think Rachel is being a bit too diva "ish" , and I also think going by ALL her performances that she just aint cut out to last the x factor pace, she was good right at the very beginning but there dont seem to be any life in her and even her own choice of song was bloody downright awful! she was totally out of tune, she had no zest in her and all round it was dire and painful to watch. Fair enough she has had a hard life but that was her choice, she said she is trying to win her kids back from social services,well believe me when I say this social services do not remove kids from their mothers care lightly, they take everything into account for the simple reason they do not have the resources to remove kids and place them into foster homes so Rachel must have been doing some pretty bad shit for that to happen! I feel that Rachel aint consistent enough and lacks experience to have come this far and is solely now relying on public sympathy, at first you tend to think everyone deserves a chance, but with her raw voice as Danni puts it, they are limited as to what songs she can sing if any well and time and time again lately she has only proven that she cant sing any song given to her, hence being in the bottom 2, god knows what went wrong with the voting last week, but Laura should never have been shoved out, and how Ruth got to stay in I will never know to be honest none of them apart from Alexandra can cut it this year, none of them can sing a note, I will watch to the end as Im sure that it will be another face this year as t was the last year, but Rachel needs to step down from her pedestal and listen to ppl who knows the industry, as the way she is carrying on right now she will get nowhere.

I\’m not keen on Rachel at all. I don\’t think it would make much difference what song she picked as I don\’t like her singing, her style or anything about her. On the other hand, I think Alexandra, Ruth and the kid with the unspellable name are extremely good and remarks that he is there only because he is "cute" are wide of the mark. The kid really can sing and will surely only improve as he gets older. There have been other examples of young singers who have matured into successful older singers.
